2022 China-Africa Fruits Promotion Conference Held in Changsha

The conference was attended by Chen Dayang, Second-level Inspector of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, as well as representatives from relevant departments, and associations.

China: The 2022 China-Africa Fruits Promotion Conference, co-sponsored by the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province and the China Fruit Marketing Association, was held in Changsha on November 29.

Zainabu Zuberi Massoro, Tanzanian Minister Plenipotentiary to China, Wilfred Marube, CEO of the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency, Molatelo Enos Mamadi, Agricultural Counsellor of South Africa to China, and Lu Fangxiao, President of China Fruit Marketing Association are among those taking part in the conference via video link.

The conference was attended by Chen Dayang, Second-level Inspector of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, as well as representatives from relevant departments, associations, and fruit trading enterprises in Hunan Province.

The on-site contract is worth approximately RMB 70 million.

Representatives from Kenya, South Africa, and other African countries spoke at the conference about the development of their fruit industries in order to increase fruit exports to China and promote trade between their countries and China.

Huang Lei, Deputy Director of the Yuhua Management Committee of the Changsha Area of China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone, discussed the benefits of opening up the Pilot Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation. Representatives from Greechain Information Science and Technology, TKL (Group), and Shanghai Goodfarmer Foods each presented their company's business situation and released relevant procurement needs.

Chen Dayang, Second-level Inspector of Hunan Province's Department of Commerce, stated that the fruit industry, as one of Hunan's ten agriculture industries worth RMB 100 billion, has obvious advantages.

Hunan and Africa have a wide range of opportunities for collaboration, including fruit technology innovation, deep processing, material distribution, and post-harvest processing. He hoped that the parties involved would deepen their exchange and cooperation and work together to promote fruit trade between China and Africa.

The biennial China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) has been held successfully for two sessions, with the third session scheduled for June 2023 in Changsha.

All parties are welcome to participate actively in the CAETE.

The China-Africa Fruits Promotion Conference, as one of the activities to promote the China-Africa economy and trade in CAETE's final year, intends to implement the nine programmes of Africa-China cooperation and to build a smooth, efficient, and practical information exchange and trade cooperation platform for the China-Africa fruit industry.
