56-year-old man arrested for attempting to defile his own 8-year-old daughter

Malawi: Police arrested Martin Vickson, 56, on Sunday in Ntchisi district for allegedly attempting to defile his own 8-year-old daughter.

According to Ntchisi Public Relations Officer Yohane Tasowana, the suspect began touching the little girl's private parts with the intent to defile her between December 5 and December 8, this year.

But the girl insisted on refusing.

"Vickson then attempted to persuade the girl by telling her that he would become wealthy after having sex with her. However, she continued to reject her father's approach," Tasowana said.

The suspect, on the other hand, never gave up.

He broke into the girl's room while she was sleeping on December 6th.

He touched her private parts and made her touch his as well. The girl denied it once more. She screamed for assistance. The father ran away.

But the day of his shame arrived: "The victim refused to be left in the custody of her father while her mother went to the maize field." She told her mother everything." Tasowana elaborated.

The mother then reported the incident to the police, which resulted in the suspect's arrest.

He is scheduled to appear in court soon to answer the charge of Indecent Assault, which violates section 137(1) of the penal code.

He is from Nkhwazi Village in the district's Traditional Authority Vusojere's area.
