Afro Green Initiative urges students to advocate for proper waste management

The appeal was made during the Afro Green Initiative's national adaptation plan debate 2022, which was held in Lilongwe on November 12, 2022.

Malawi: Afro Green Initiative, a local non-governmental organization, has urged students across the country to be at the forefront of raising awareness about proper waste management.

The appeal was made during the Afro Green Initiative's national adaptation plan debate 2022, which was held in Lilongwe on November 12, 2022.

In an interview, youth coordinator Malango Kayira stated that the goal of the debate was to empower young people while also providing them with knowledge on how to sensitise the community about proper waste management.

She also stated that more efforts are required to protect the environment.

Meanwhile, Stuart Jere, a representative for Chipasula Secondary School, has praised Afro Green Initiative for the initiative, saying it is timely.

Bride Chirwa, a student representative, urged fellow youths to take an active role in environmental issues.

Students from Chipasula Secondary School, Lilongwe Girls Secondary School, and Athens Secondary School participated in the debate.
