Airtel Malawi Launches TV to Promote Entertainment in the Country

Airtel Malawi launches TV service promoting easy access to entertainment on mobile devices-Moses Nyirenda.

Malawi—Airtel Malawi has launched its new TV service, which aims to promote entertainment in the country by providing easy access to TV shows, movies, and live events straight from mobile devices, writes Moses Nyirenda.

According to Airtel Malawi Marketing Director, Thokozani Sande, the company designed Airtel TV to give people the freedom to watch their favourite entertainment programs anytime and anywhere.

Sande noted that Airtel TV is user-friendly, making it easy for viewers to access the entertainment channels of their choice.

"We understand that the demand for entertainment on-the-go has been on the rise in recent years, and that's why we have made sure that Airtel TV is easily accessible to everyone with just a few clicks," Sande said.

"Whether you're commuting to work, travelling, or just relaxing at home, you can now watch your favourite shows on your mobile device, at your convenience."

Sande added that Airtel TV offers an extensive selection of local, Bollywood, and Nollywood content, with a range of features aimed at enhancing the viewer's experience.

The company plans to enhance the app with more local and international content going forward.

Airtel Malawi has partnered with local media companies, including Times TV, Zodiak TV, and HD Plus Creations, to provide content for Airtel TV. HD Plus Creations Marketing Manager Alex Kachepa stated that the platform will allow Malawians to access content that was previously unavailable to them, such as the movie Fatsani.

"Many local Malawians wanted to access Fatsani, but the platforms that were available were not quite accessible for them to access the movie," Kachepa said.

"But now, finally, the movie Fatsani will be available to anybody who has the Airtel TV app."

Airtel TV does not require viewers to pay any monthly subscriptions, with the only requirements being an active internet connection and an Airtel mobile number.

Overall, Airtel Malawi hopes that its new TV service will provide a much-needed boost to the entertainment industry in the country and offer people a convenient way to enjoy their favourite programs.
