Aspiring MP promises more development

Malawi: A Malawi Congress Party parliamentary aspirant, Maxwell Njemu, has pledged to continue fostering development in the Salima north constituency.

In an effort to improve the lives of the vulnerable in Michulu village, Traditional Authority Mwanza and Makanjira in Salima, Mjemu has reaffirmed his commitment to the community by urging authorities to join him in developing the area.

Mjemu made the call on Sunday in the district during the finals of the Maxwell Mjemu Jersey Ipite Football Bonanza, which saw Namphini FC from Traditional Authority Makanjira emerge as champions after defeating Michulu FC 6-5, on penalties.

"My passion and desire are to ensure that this area is developed in both sectors, which include education, sports, health, and child rights, as well as road maintenance, and I anticipate that my efforts will significantly improve the lives of people in traditional authorities Mwanza and Makanjira," Mjemu stated.

Mjemu stated in an interview that if re-elected, he would ensure that the projects he had begun were completed so that the electorate in his constituency could benefit from the various government projects.

Elvius Alick, Chairman of the Michulu and Yokonia ADC, praised Mjemu for its work in Michulu and urged him to be deliberate in his engagements with other parties, saying that this is what people have been missing in terms of development activities among them.

He also praised the aspiring candidate in particular for his programmes and dedication to children's well-being, health, agriculture, road maintenance, and sports development, all of which have a positive impact on their lives.
