Meanwhile, Tanzanian education officials have donated 1,200 Swahili books to aid Malawi's efforts to incorporate Swahili into the country's school curriculum.
Malawi: The Ministry of Education has developed a five-pillar transformative strategy to lay a solid foundation for children and improve the country's provision of quality education, writes Judgement Katika.
Agness NyaLonje, the Minister in charge, stated this in Lilongwe during the launch of the 2022 joint sector review meeting.
Among them are the allocation of the best teachers in grades 1–4 and the implementation of Early Childhood Development in all primary schools, improved teacher training and support, curriculum redesign, increasing school feeding coverage from 35% to 100%, and expanding education digitalisation.
According to Nyalonje, there is a need for a holistic approach that prioritises and develops all sub-sectors of the education system.
The minister stated that it is critical for the country to provide comprehensive, inclusive, and quality education, which she believes is a critical component in achieving Malawi's 2063 aspirations.
