CBO donates food to Salima flood victims
Wise Balakasi, Executive Director of the CBO, stated that the people affected by the floods are in desperate need of basic necessities, hence the donation.
MALAWI: A Salima-based Nakondwa Community Based Organization (CBO) on Thursday donated relief food and non-food relief items to flood-affected people in Traditional Authority Kalonga as a way to alleviate the problems caused by the floods.
Wise Balakasi, Executive Director of the CBO, stated that the people affected by the floods are in desperate need of basic necessities, hence the donation.
"The people were greatly affected in that life was difficult for them because they lost their property, including houses, livestock, crops, and food; that is why as an organization we thought it wise to seek donor aid that these people should be supported," said Balakasi.
In a similar vein, Group Village headwoman Chimombo urged the beneficiaries to use the items wisely rather than selling them if they want to live better lives.
She also lauded the efforts of CBO leaders who worked tirelessly to support the victims.
"I am so grateful for the efforts of our CBO office bearers who are working tirelessly to meet the needs of all affected households in my jurisdiction," said group village.
Jesse Wilson, a beneficiary, expressed gratitude to the CBO administration for identifying her as a beneficiary and for the assistance that will benefit her and all recipients.
She also requested assistance from all people of goodwill, pointing out that they still have unmet needs.
Students' donations included maize, blankets, sugar, salt, cups, plates, and exercise books.
