Chikwawa Police Chief Urges Officers to Discharge Duties with Integrity, Increase Efforts to Curb Crime

Malawi: Police Officer In-charge of Chikwawa, Assistant Commissioner of Police Francis Chisaka, has urged officers under his command to discharge their duties with integrity, in line with the code of conduct, writes Comfort Bulangete.

On January 16, 2023, Chisaka toured Kamudzu Bridge and Thabwa checkpoints with the goal of reminding officers to put extra effort into searching for stolen properties and offensive weapons.

To curb the theft of livestock, irrigation equipment from the Illovo sugar company, and construction materials from the Shire Valley transformation program and Kapichira hydroelectric sites, Assistant Commissioner of Police Chisaka has added more officers to the checkpoints, from 3 to 6, and urged vigilance, alertness, and thorough searches throughout.

Speaking at the Kamuzu Bridge roadblock, Chisaka warned officers to desist from doing anything out of their normal duties and advised them to be more cooperative with the general public in order to regain the people's trust.

He assured them that people will start tipping off the police about stolen livestock and materials in various areas.

He also reminded officers to refrain from being involved in corruption activities and warned that no one is above the law.

The police in the district assure citizens that they will provide security wherever it is needed to make Chikwawa safe.
