Chikwawa Police OC bids farewell to workmates

Malawi: The outgoing Chikwawa Police Station Officer in Charge, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Alex Simenti, said farewell to officers under his command, encouraging them to maintain the teamwork spirit that prevailed during his tenure.

Speaking on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the Chikwawa Police Station, Assistant Commissioner of Police Simenti said: "Let me take this opportunity to thank you all for your dedication and commitment when performing duties during my time as your OC; you were truly wonderful people to work with. Now that management has assigned me another role to play at the Headquarters, I urge you to support my successor in continuing to serve the people of Chikwawa well."

During his tenure, Simenti was able to reduce crime in the district, particularly livestock theft, which farmers had been complaining about, and he was also able to bring the police to the people where they were needed.

During his tenure, he ensured that the Kakoma Police Unit was fully operational, and he also led the reopening of the Makhwira and Chapasuka police units, which had been vandalised by angry citizens. He also strengthened border cooperation with Mozambique.

Simenti is being transferred to National Police Headquarters as Deputy Director of Community Policing after serving as OC Chikwawa for 13 months.

In his remarks, Chikwawa Police Station Officer Senior Superintendent Newton Mathanga expressed gratitude for the good leadership demonstrated by Alex Simenti, Assistant Commissioner of Police, during his tenure and urged officers to carry on his legacy.
