Children's Relief International Introduces Sports Tournament to Empower Youth and Reduce Dropout Rates
According to the 2022 Education Statistics report, 5.9% of students dropped out of school, with more females dropping out compared to males.
Malawi: In an effort to empower young people, the Children's Relief International organization has introduced a sports tournament called the Foothill, writes Hamida Assan Mwale.
According to the 2022 Education Statistics report, 5.9% of students dropped out of school, with more females dropping out compared to males.
This has resulted in a higher overall dropout rate for female students compared to males. Despite this challenge, the National Director of Children's Relief International, Redson Phukira Makwinja, stated that the organization will be sponsoring boys and girls by providing bursaries for secondary and college education.
The organization is targeting youths in the Mpemba area as well as youths from 14 villages surrounding the Mpemba Secondary School.
One of the children in the village, Atupele Phiri, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to finish her education and become successful in life.
Children's Relief International is making a significant impact on the lives of children by addressing the high dropout rate and providing positive support and resources.
