Mzimba, Malawi- As Christians around the world are observing Good Friday, the faithful of Utatu Utawa Parish in Mzimba district, Malawi, took to the streets to enact the Way of the Cross, commemorating the suffering and death of Jesus Christ, writes Alinafe Sambo.

Under the leadership of parish priest Father Nathan Kakuwo, hundreds of Christians participated in the solemn procession, which started from St. Francis Secondary School and will culminate at Utatu Utawa Parish in the district.

In an interview, Father Kakuwo explained that the enactment of the Way of the Cross is a way for Christians to meditate on the significance of Jesus' death and to reflect on the importance of his sacrifice for humanity.

He emphasized the need for Christians to celebrate Easter with love, so that the day holds deep meaning for them.

"The Way of the Cross is a powerful reminder of the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sins of humanity," said Father Kakuwo.

"It is a time for Christians to reflect on their own lives and make positive changes. If Christians do not change, then the season of Lent will be of no use to them."

The procession in Utatu Utawa Parish drew a large turnout of faithful, who joined in prayer, reflection, and hymns as they retraced the steps of Jesus' journey to the cross.

The event provided a solemn and meaningful way for Christians to enter into the spirit of Good Friday and prepare their hearts for the celebration of Easter.

As Christians around the world mark Good Friday, the enactment of the Way of the Cross in Utatu Utawa Parish served as a poignant reminder of the central message of the Christian faith - the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the salvation of humanity.
