Chikwawa-based Hifa Group of Companies has donated a variety of amenities worth half a million kwacha to flood victims in Chikwawa in order to help them improve their standard of living.

Malawi: Chikwawa-based Hifa Group of Companies has donated a variety of amenities worth half a million kwacha to flood victims in Chikwawa in order to help them improve their standard of living.

The donation was made at Kaponda and Tiwasamale Camps on November 5, 2022.

Anganile Ngosi, the company's Manager, stated in an interview with AfricaBrief that due to the damage caused by Cyclone Ana earlier this year, many people in Chikwawa were affected by floods as their houses were damaged, their properties, including cattle and other livestock, were washed away by the cyclone Ana, leaving many people homeless and helpless.

According to Ngosi, the donation was made as part of Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR), stating that it is the responsibility of the Hifa group of companies as a business entity that operates in Chikwawa to ensure that the people of Chikwawa benefit from it.

In his remarks, one of the beneficiaries at Kaponda camp stated that the donation came at the right time because the need was great, and they were not expecting this to happen at this time when many people are facing economic hardships.

The donation totalled half a million Kwacha and was sourced from well-wishers.

Some of the items donated included shoes, clothing, sugar, and many other items.

More than a hundred people received the donation.
