COMSIP Aims to Reach 600 People with Savings and Investment Messages by 2027

Malawi-In an effort to increase household income and assets, as well as improve the status of nutrition and health in beneficiary households through improved food security, Community Savings and Investment Promotion (COMSIP) has announced its goal to install and reach out to 590 people with savings and investment messages by 2027, writes Ousman Kaliati.

The project, which is working with funds from the World Bank and collaborating with the Social Cash Transfer Program (SCTP) beneficiaries and Climate Smart Enhanced Public Works (CSPWP), has been commended for improving community households' living standards in the district and reducing the council's heavy loads.

Speaking during a learning lessons meeting which involved Titukulane group from Mpakati village and Tiende from Sub-traditional authority, Toleza Mercy Chaluma, Development Promotion Officer for COMSIP, expressed satisfaction with the progress of different cooperatives, saying, "Learning from each other helps to let the side which is behind in other angles to gain knowledge in those angles."

Jaffali Chisale, Senior Community Development Assistant, has also commended the COMSIP project, stating that it has contributed significantly to improving community households' living standards in the district.

One of the beneficiaries, Royce Godfrey, who is also the Chairperson for Tiende group, applauded the development by COMSIP, saying, "I have been doing business without necessary guidelines, which has taken the right path following the invasion of COMSIP into the community, which has also made her life easier as she is now able to raise her children and school them with no difficulties."

The Social Support for Resilience for Livelihoods Project (SSRLP) is also providing support to COMSIP in all districts.
