Darussunnah Foundation Donates to Fight Hunger in Salima
Darussunnah Foundation donates 500 bags of maize flour and other items to fight hunger in Salima-Alinafe Nyanda.
Malawi: The Darussunnah Foundation on Sunday donated 500 bags of maize flour and other assorted items to communities in Salima in an effort to help fight hunger in the country, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
Sheikh Hussein Mussa, a board member of the organization, spoke about the donation, saying that when they learned about the hunger in the district, they felt it was imperative to donate items to help curb the issue.
"When we learned about hunger among communities in Salima, we decided to donate items for hunger-stricken communities in Salima and Mangochi respectively," said Mussa.
He asked the beneficiaries to use the items responsibly to help fight hunger in the country.
Gerald Kapiseni Phiri, Salima Central Member of Parliament, commended the organization for supporting the community.
"We are passing through a difficult time as a lot of people are facing constraints as far as hunger is concerned," said Phiri.
He expressed excitement about the foundation's response to his call for humanitarian assistance and encouraged other organizations to follow their example.
The donation comes at a time when the community is facing the threat of hunger this year and possibly next year.
The support from the Darussunnah Foundation is timely and will be of great help in addressing the hunger crisis.
