EDUCATION MINISTRY BLAMES DATA DELAY

Ministry of Education has attributed misunderstandings that have erupted over January teachers’ salaries to alleged failure by the teachers to submit their data on time.

Ministry of Education spokesperson, Miss Lindiwe Chide, says the teachers will only get that January salaries until they submit their data.

Tuesday morning over one hundred teachers from Lilongwe marched to capital hill in protest against the anomalies in their salaries.

Names of close to three thousand primary school teachers countrywide on the January payroll.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Education decided to pay teachers their January salaries.

But things did not go as planned when education officials reached Kaufulu School, where about one teacher had gathered.

The teachers turned back the education officials, because of alleged anomalies on the payslips.

Later the teachers marched to capital hill.
