"Every road to success is still under construction,” Wenga

ZIMBABWE: Community Advocacy Development Association (CADA) met with 18 young people in Nyamhunga, Kariba.

Mao Wenga facilitated the engagement; his first point of contact was the need for self-development.

He emphasized that growth begins within.

"As young people, we should be able to make informed decisions; therefore, we must act now because there is no development without action." ", he stated.

The engagement was interactive, with youths sharing their action plans following an educational session with the facilitator.

During the engagement, two focus groups were formed, with each group working on a different question.

The following were the questions:

Group 1: Describe the issues that young people in Zimbabwe face and why they are not active participants in national processes.

Group 2: Explain why Kariba's youth do not participate in voting processes.

Ignorance, a lack of sense of belonging, a lack of knowledge about voting, political violence, a lack of confidence in the process, unfulfilled promises, poor access to information, illiteracy, and national processes that never truly included youths were among the consistent responses.

The issues were thoroughly explained, and youths do not see the value of participating due to the aforementioned factors.
