Fired DPP Governor Obtains Court Injunction to Stop Party from Removing Him
Former DPP governor Charles Mchacha obtains court injunction to stop party from removing him, writes writes Benson Kamonjola.
Malawi-Charles Mchacha, the former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regional governor for the South, has obtained a court injunction preventing the party from removing him from his position, writes Benson Kamonjola.
A court document states that a hearing will be held within 28 days of the injunction's issuance.
However, DPP spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba said in an interview that the party has yet to receive the injunction.
The party had previously announced Mchacha's dismissal, citing a strategy for the 2025 tripartite election, while some claim that Mchacha was fired because he opposed the endorsement of former president and party president Peter Mutharika.
