Five students arrested for cheating in junior examination certificate exams in MW
MANEB spokesperson Mayamiko Chiwaya said the candidates were released on bail to continue writing their exams and will answer the charges in court later.
The Malawi Junior Examination Certificate Examinations commenced on September 28th, 2021, with five students arrested after being caught cheating.
One of the students was caught in Dowa with biology reference materials, and on the second day, one was also caught with mathematical reference materials at Dzaleka CDSS in Dowa.
The other student was also caught with agriculture reference in Limbe.
MANEB spokesperson Mayamiko Chiwaya said the candidates were released on bail to continue writing their exams and will answer the charges in court later.
Meanwhile, education analyst Lucky Mbewe said students tend to cheat as they don’t have confidence in themselves and that cheating is also a result of poor education standards in the country as a lot of teachers are lazy and fail to complete the syllabus.
JCE exams will take place from 28 September 2021 to 7 October 2021, whilst MSCE examinations will start on October 26 to November 18, 2021.
