Flames Squad Announced for Back-to-Back AFCON Matches Against Egypt
The Flames’ local-based players will go into camp at Mpira Village at Chiwembe in Blantyre on Sunday to start preparations for the matches.
Malawi: The Malawi national football team, The Flames, have announced their squad for their upcoming back-to-back 2023 African Cup of Nations matches against Egypt, writes Beston Simwaka.
The matches will take place in Cairo and at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe between March 20-28.
The squad, which includes goalkeepers Charles Thom, Brighton Munthali, and Clever Mkungula, and defenders Lawrence Chaziya, Paul Ndhlove, Blessings Mpokera, Kelvin Kadzinje, Miracle Gabeya, Stanley Sanudi, Nicksoni Mwase, Gomezgani Chirwa, Mark Fodya, and Alick Lungu, among others.
One football analyst in the country, Parry Chinyama, has expressed his satisfaction with the squad, especially the inclusion of Brighton Munthali, whom he considers the outstanding goalkeeper of last season's Super League.
He would prefer that William and Misheki Botoman be included and that the coach find a player to replace Stanley Sanudi.
