Malawi: The Department of Forestry has launched an investigation into the "massacre" of Michiru Mountain, which has been systematically abused, Ted Kamoto, the Director of the Department, has revealed.

According to Kamoto, the Michiru Mountain issue has been extremely damaging to the department, prompting the decision to launch a “holistic” investigation into the wanton cutting down of trees on the mountain.

He explains more.

Kamoto also stated that they will send a team to properly investigate because the way things are doesn't show or imply that it happened in a day.

According to him, someone from the department appears to have assisted with the holistic type of thing.

Recently, not only Michiru Mountain but also other forests, such as Perekezi Forest, have been hard hit by this type of behaviour.

Kamoto stated that people should continue to build trust in them and that they will investigate and prosecute those found, whether from the department or elsewhere.
