Fuel Tanker Involved in Road Accident at Kamuzu Bridge in Chikwawa

Malawi-A fuel tanker with registration number ZA 2853 has been involved in a road accident at Kamuzu Bridge in Chikwawa district, writes Cornelius Lupenga.

According to eyewitness Douglas Aonenji, the tanker was travelling from Blantyre to Chikwawa along the M1 road when it allegedly failed to engage another gear while ascending after crossing the roadblock.

This caused it to reverse towards the roadblock and hit a police shelter as it descended.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

Chikwawa Police Station Public Relations Officer Sergeant Dickson Matemba confirmed the incident but stated that he has not yet been furnished with the particulars of the driver.

He added that no injuries were reported following the accident.
