Green Impact Technologies Trains 1000 Women and Elderly in ICT Literacy to Combat Fraud
GIT trained 1000 women and elderly in Malawi to improve digital literacy and combat fraud-Peter Chilongo.
Malawi - Green Impact Technologies (GIT) has successfully trained 1000 women and elderly individuals in Lilongwe, Balaka, Ntcheu, Dedza, and Machinga to enhance their digital literacy skills and combat fraud, writes Peter Chilongo.
During the training sessions, Machinga Swidern Zuze, the district youth officer (DYO), highlighted the growing issues of fraud and digital technology among women and the elderly in Malawi.
He praised GIT for its efforts to educate vulnerable individuals on the safe use of technology, including ATMs, mobile money, and digital applications.
"We have been meeting with women from different Traditional Authorities and districts to discuss the challenges they experience on a daily basis, especially with regard to fraud, phone use, and ATM usage," said Sibongile Nthara, GIT's Project Coordinator and Digital Trainer.
The training sessions primarily focused on addressing issues related to fraud, mobile money, ATM usage, and phone applications to help women and the elderly take full advantage of technology to resolve everyday issues.
Participants, such as Dores Watson and Egita Thomas, expressed their gratitude towards GIT for the program that would help them positively.
They also acknowledged the growing number of scammers who exploit individuals' lack of knowledge about mobile money.
The GVH of Ntcheu Group Village, Phuka, commended the program for its timely intervention in raising awareness of the problems affecting the lives of vulnerable individuals.
Through GIT's initiative, these individuals are now better equipped to navigate the digital world and protect themselves from fraud.
The program is a significant step towards creating a competitive society and raising the standard of living for women and the elderly in Malawi.
