Malawi-Lilongwe-based Holy Cross Private Schools has reaffirmed its commitment to salvaging Malawi’s education sector to attain Sustainable Development Goal 4, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
The school emphasized the importance of public and private sector collaboration for national development.
Speaking on the sidelines of a Quiz Competition organized at Chipoka Secondary School on Saturday, March, a representative from Holy Cross Private Schools, Chisale, said the quiz was designed to match the level of competitive exams so as to give students an in-depth experience of questions that are frequently asked in such exams.
Chisale added that the overall objective of the initiative was to enhance academic performance and reward excellence among learners.
“The program aims to regenerate the spirit of academic excellence and healthy competition in the youth by motivating, encouraging, and rewarding the scholarship and teamwork spirit in their young minds,” said Chisale.
The initiative aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number four, which is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
The quiz competition will be held in Salima at Chipoka Secondary School on 5th March this year.
One student from Holy Cross Private School said that participating in quizzes also aids team-building, relieves the tension of the daily work routine, promotes group harmony, and helps build students’ soft skills.
Research has shown that quizzes are designed to promote a fun way to study and help improve one’s general knowledge.
