Homeland Security Minister Urges Corporate World to Promote Security

Malawi-Minister of Homeland Security, Kenneth Zikhale Ng'oma, has urged the corporate world to work together with the government to promote security in the country, writes Chrispin Lwanja.

The minister made the appeal on Tuesday when he received a donation of six computers valued at K36 million from the Creck CK Group of Companies in Blantyre.

According to Ng'oma, the corporate world plays a critical role in promoting security since businesses thrive in countries with good security. He added that the donation of computers had arrived at a time when the ministry was facing numerous challenges in terms of materials that could enhance service delivery.

"The corporate world and government are partners, and I thank President Lazarus Chakwera for enhancing the cordial relationship that exists between government and the private sector," said Ng'oma.

"I, therefore, call upon other players in the corporate world to follow suit."

Ng'oma also highlighted that the donation would help improve efficiency and service delivery in the Ministry, but with the current situation, service delivery still remains a challenge, hence calling for the corporate world to come in.

Managing Director for the Creck CK Group of Companies, Apostle Clifford Kawonga, said that his company donated to the Ministry of Homeland Security as a way of giving back to society, bearing in mind the importance of security in the development of the country.

"As a company, we have the responsibility to give back to society so that we help in providing a conducive environment where businesses can flourish and help the economy grow," he said.

The call for collaboration between the corporate world and the government in promoting security is an essential step in ensuring a safe environment for businesses to operate in the country.
