Human capital development crucial in achieving Malawi Vision 2063, Chakwera

Malawi: Human capital development, according to President Lazarus Chakwera, is one of the three pillars of Malawi Vision 2063, which, if successfully implemented, will see Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world, transform to upper-middle-income status.

Malawi's president made the remarks on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the 28th graduation ceremony of African Bible College in Lilongwe, where he was the guest of honour.

“Over the past three decades, African Bible College has grown into a conveyor belt of academic excellence that feeds into the country's labour market with competent professionals, who are contributing positively to the country’s socio-economic development,” said Chakwera.

Chakwera noted that the African Bible College, one of the country's oldest private universities, continues to emphasise servant leadership as a tool that graduates should carry with them as they serve their respective communities.

He stated that this type of education enables "our professionals to approach life with the right ethical compass, which cannot be bent in any way."

“Just as is the case with the government’s investment in public universities, my administration will continue supporting private higher education institutions so that we attain adequate and professional human capital that Malawi needs to become a self-reliant and inclusively wealthy nation by 2063,” said the Malawi leader.

“Remember, Human capital development is one of the enablers of the three pillars of Malawi Vision 2063. We must therefore do all we can to achieve equitable access to quality education for everyone.”
