Iris Africa Partners in Harvest Distributes Food Items to Over 1000 Church Members in Nsanje

Nsanje, Malawi-In an effort to curb hunger in the district, Iris Africa Partners in Harvest has distributed assorted food items to 1,230 church members in Nsanje, writes Cornelius Lupenga.

Despite the hunger situation in the area, the church has been carrying out its social responsibilities by assisting the communities.

Speaking on Friday before the distribution at Bangula Headquarters, Commissioner Emmanuel Ali emphasized that the church is equally concerned with the current hunger situation in the district and the country as a whole.

Iris Africa Partners in Harvest has been operating in Malawi since 2000, with its headquarters at Bangula in Nsanje.

Commissioner Ali added that apart from preaching the word of God, the church has also been assisting the communities in many ways, including providing water to Bangula Evacuation Camps for the displaced persons.

"Every Friday we have church prayers with people of different denominations as one way of bringing the gospel closer to the people," said the Commissioner.

In a separate interview, the Bangula Chairperson for people with different abilities, Byson White, hailed Iris Africa Partners in Harvest for the tireless assistance they have been rendering to them and the entire communities.

He recalled that without the church, their lives would be affected in many ways, alleging that most of the time they are segregated in their villages.

White also disclosed that a total of 56 people with different disabilities have received the food items at the Iris Africa Partners headquarters in Harvest, which will last them for some days. He has since urged other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to emulate the gesture by Iris Africa Partners in Harvest in supporting the locals in the district.

The church's efforts in distributing food items to the communities have been praised by the locals, with many commending the church for its selfless service.

The assistance has brought relief to the communities and gone a long way in curbing hunger in the district.
