Khato Civils, South Zambezi Engineering Services Donate K100 Million to Support Cyclone Freddy Victims
Khato Civils Pty Limited and South Zambezi Engineering Services have donated K100 million to aid victims of Tropical Cyclone Freddy in southern Malawi, writes Winston Mwale.
Malawi-Khato Civils Pty Limited and South Zambezi Engineering Services have extended a helping hand to the victims of Tropical Cyclone Freddy in southern Malawi by making an immediate transfer of K100 million to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA).
According to a statement released by the two companies on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, the funds will be used to provide support to the victims who have been displaced by the cyclone and are currently living in over 50 emergency camps set up in affected districts and towns.
“The Khato Civils and South Zambezi Joint Venture is deeply saddened for the loss of lives, injuries, and destruction of property to all disaster victims. As a responsible and caring company, we sympathize with the many families who have lost their loved ones in this disaster, and we hope that the storm will subside so that recovery and restoration efforts can proceed immediately. We stand with you during this difficult time,” reads part of the statement.
The statement says the support provided by the joint venture will go directly to the 10,000 or so persons displaced by the disaster and currently living in over 50 emergency camps set up in affected districts and towns.
Mongezi Mnyani, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Khato Civils Pty Limited, urged other organizations and individuals to support the victims of the disaster and contribute to the recovery efforts.
