Khulubvi Arts Festival 2023 to revamp education in Nsanje
Executive Director for Nyamithambo Arts Palace, Eric Trinta, announced on Tuesday that the Khulubvi Cultural Arts Festival 2023 will be held from July 1st-2nd, 2023, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
Nsanje, Malawi - The Executive Director for Nyamithambo Arts Palace, Eric Trinta, announced on Tuesday that the Khulubvi Cultural Arts Festival 2023 will be held from July 1st-2nd, 2023, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
The festival will focus on revamping the education standards and infrastructure in the Shire Valley, particularly in the Nsanje district.
"It is unfortunate that Nsanje continues to anchor in the 34 education districts in the country," Trinta said during a press briefing at the prison ground in Nsanje boma.
"In all the national examinations, Nsanje has been performing poorly, hence the need to address the situation."
Trinta also disclosed that most institutions in the district are in bad condition and are not suitable for learning.
Meanwhile, Trinta has dismissed rumours that he plans to enter politics.
When asked if he would consider joining politics if approached by the community, Trinta said, "I have no ambition of joining politics. Once I do so, it will be the end of my focus for initiating plans for the Khulubvi Cultural Arts."
Trinta emphasized that his focus is on the whole Shire Valley region and that joining politics at his age would only limit his scope.
"We had giants in politics such as Gwanda Chakuamba who rose to the ranks but failed to bring happiness to the people in Nsanje," he said.
Instead, Trinta plans to work with the chiefs on a shared vision, which can then be implemented by politicians such as councillors and members of parliament.
"If there is a good combination at all the levels, what is being focused on can be easily carried out in Nsanje," he said.
The Khulubvi Cultural Arts Festival is expected to attract both local and international tourists, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Shire Valley.
