Leader of the House satisfied with first week of deliberations
He said the theme "Accelerating the freedom Malawians fought for" will not be possible if Malawians will not unite and hold hands.
Leader of the House, Richard Chimwendo Banda, said he is very grateful and happy with the way the House has contributed and responded to the SONA delivered by the president on 12 May 2021.
Chimwendo said, despite some negative comments from members, many have given green light and that they are optimistic that the SONA will help to transform the country.
He said the theme "Accelerating the freedom Malawians fought for" will not be possible if Malawians will not unite and hold hands.
Chimwendo added that unity will help to take Malawi to greater heights.
During the Friday morning deliberations, which started with the questions to the Ministry of Education, it was revealed that government has 80 thousand desks that will be distributed to different schools throughout the country.
Many members of parliament welcomed the development, saying it is pity that in some Cluster Centers students seat on the floor when writing examinations.
During the same meeting Member of Parliament for Balaka West, Bertha Ndembere said Malawi needs to accelerate development.
"Let's build up-it’s the 21st century and let’s consider build central hospitals in each region, "Ndembere said.
It has also been revealed that on Monday 12 Members of Parliament will hold demonstrations to force the government to consider putting Mangochi-Makanjira road on the top list of roads to be constructed.
Confirming the development, Shadreck Namalomba MP for Mangochi South West said the demonstrations are not all about politics but development since they have been neglected for a long time.
Reacting to the development, Chimwendo said it is their democratic rights to hold demonstrations.
