MALAWI: On Saturday, the Lions Club of Lilongwe took its afforestation drive to the Catchment Area of Maligunde Dam in Lilongwe.
“This exercise was planned and executed by the Lions Club of Lilongwe as Environment is one of the focus areas of Lionism,” reads a statement from the grouping.
“The Lions put an effort to strengthen the catchment area with more trees. It would reduce the siltation to help the reserve of Lilongwe River to store and supply water to our City Lilongwe.”
This exercise was supported by the Lilongwe Water Board and the Indian Community Forum - Lilongwe.
Patricia Kaliati, Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare Patricia Kaliati, was in attendance. She's also a member of the club
The exercise was a joint effort of the volunteers who wish to support the Malawi Government Initiatives to make Malawi Greener and Cleaner.
