Eveline Sibindi van Dam, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the LSPCA, stated that the funds raised far exceeded their expectations.
Malawi: The Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA) reports that its fundraising golf tournament, held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Lilongwe Golf Club, raised approximately K10 million.
Eveline Sibindi van Dam, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the LSPCA, stated that the funds raised far exceeded their expectations.
She went on to say that the funds raised will help her organisation with some of its day-to-day operations.
She also stated that the funds raised will be used to improve the lives of donkeys in the districts of Lilongwe, Dedza, and Dowa, as well as to train veterinary and para-veterinary students from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR).
According to her, LSPCA collaborates with the government as well as LUANAR and primarily serves the central region.
She also stated that her organisation serves animals in 50% of Lilongwe's high-density areas and 100% of small-scale farms in the surrounding area via a mobile clinic that provides free services.
Wasim Shakil, one of the golfers who participated in the fundraising golf tournament, praised the event in his comment, saying that it was a good course.
