Malawi bans South Africa's eccentric dancer, Zodwa Wabantu
Michael Usi, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife, has ordered a halt to the show scheduled for June 11 at Dominics Club in Blantyre, calling it unfit for Malawi.
Malawi: Zodwa Wabantu, a South African dancer, has been censored and barred from performing in Malawi.
Michael Usi, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife, has ordered a halt to the show scheduled for June 11 at Dominics Club in Blantyre, calling it unfit for Malawi.
“As a ministry, we do not have issues with her. If she wants to visit Malawi there is no problem but to perform as an artist then we are saying no! She cannot come to the country to perform and strip herself naked as she normally does. Our culture respects women and we know she performs while naked that's unacceptable culturally in this country,” said Usi.
Zodwa, born Rebecca Libram, is a well-known socialite known for her provocative dancing antics.
The bizarre dancer has been seen performing at events without wearing underwear.
Zodwa was also prohibited in Zimbabwe and Zambia for similar reasons.
