Malawi Ministry of Education Trains School Leaders to Improve Management Skills

Malawi-The Ministry of Education has launched a training program to empower school leadership with new management skills, aimed at improving school administration affairs, writes Mphatso Nkuonera.
After completing training in Dowa and Ntchisi districts, Karonga is now hosting a similar activity for school leaders.
The School Leadership Programme, which is one of the components of the Malawi Education Programme (MERP), aims to train 10,200 school leaders for primary schools in Malawi.
The program targets head teachers, deputy head teachers, Primary Education Advisors, and female Sectional heads, with a focus on resource management and school administration skills.
In Karonga, 414 school leaders, including head teachers, deputy head teachers, and female Section Heads, have gathered to deepen their administrative skills.
The Director of Teacher Education and Development (DTED), Dr. Zizwa Msukuma, supported by Rose Kalizang'oma, the Deputy Director and Component Lead of the School Leadership Programme, officially opened batch 4 of the training program.
Vetta Chilongo, Headteacher for Ngara Primary School, praised the initiative, calling it "a stepping stone to improved service delivery in schools."
To date, 2,014 school leaders have been trained under the School Leadership Programme.
Education is key to improving the quality of education in Malawi, and the Ministry of Education is committed to providing training opportunities for school leaders to enhance their management skills and improve school administration.
