Malawi National Spelling Bee Competition Seeks to Promote Reading and Writing Culture

Malawi: The Malawi National Spelling Bee competition, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, is encouraging the registration of learners to participate in this year's competition, writes Bridget Mwanoka.

The goal is to promote the reading and writing culture in the country and to select a team to represent Malawi at the African Spelling Bee in Ethiopia.

The National Spelling Bee was introduced in Malawi as a way to improve the country's reading culture, which was in decline, and to provide edutainment programs on television.

In addition to promoting reading and writing culture, the competition also helps to build confidence and connect African children.

The Ministry of Education and Spelling Bee organizers say they are committed to supporting the competition and encouraging participation from as many learners as possible.
