Qatar-Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera co-chaired a high-level thematic roundtable on investment alongside Polish President Andrzej Duda, writes Winston Mwale.

The roundtable brought together government representatives and multilateral investment stakeholders from various sectors, under the theme “Investing in People in the Least Developed Countries to Leave No One Behind.”

According to President Chakwera, the conversation highlighted the need for strong political commitment, sustainable regional and global collaboration, and resilient local partnerships in the investment space.

The demands raised by experts in multilateral investment present a timely challenge for least-developed countries to address the needs of their people.

"Wealth redistribution calls for equitable, efficient, and profitable investment in our people across all key sectors of the economy in line with SDG #1 which focuses on poverty eradication," President Chakwera said.

He also emphasized Malawi's commitment to seeking all forms of meaningful investment to empower all citizens and allow them to pursue meaningful livelihoods.

The roundtable underscores the importance of investing in people to ensure that no one is left behind, especially in the least developed countries, according to Chakwera.

The discussions and outcomes will hopefully spur more collaboration and investment towards this goal.
