Malawi Sends Two Girls to Commission on Status of Women's 67th Session in New York
Malawi's Deputy Minister of Education, Nancy Chaola Mdooko, sent two girls to represent the country in New York, writes Judgment Katika.
Malawi-Deputy Minister of Education, Nancy Chaola Mdooko, bade farewell on Thursday to two young girls who will be representing Malawi at a side event of the Commission on the Status of Women's 67th session in New York, US, writes Judgment Katika.
The girls were selected for their participation in the MiLab-Virtual Science Laboratories, a program run by the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The event's theme is "Closing the Gender Gap in Science, Technology and Innovation in Developing Countries."
Mdooko expressed her encouragement at seeing female learners succeed in science and technology and urged others to follow their example.
The two students selected, Grace Bauleni Chisale from Luwinga Secondary School and Blessings Zimba from Mary Mount Catholic Secondary School will travel to the United States with officials from the Ministry of Education on March 13th.
Bauleni expressed excitement at the opportunity to further develop her skills and pledged to bring positive results back home.
The Secretary for Education, Chikondano Mussa, encouraged the girls to shine at the event and urged other learners to continue striving in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
