Malawi Teacher Effectiveness and Enhancement Programme Praised for Positive Impact in Education Sector

Malawi: The Acting Director of the Directorate of Teacher Education and Development (DITED), Rose Kalizang'oma, has praised the success of the Malawi Teacher Effectiveness and Enhancement Programme (MTEEP) in the field of education, writes Bridget Mwanoka.
Evelyn Mjima, the Highlands Education Division Manager (EDM), also cited the efforts made by mother organizations to lower the number of girls dropping out of school in the area.
Despite these encouraging findings, Kalizang'oma also outlined areas for improvement, including the tardy distribution of funds, the teacher education curriculum's deficient content, and the alignment of the teaching curriculum in the field. She demanded a prompt and appropriate review.
Chiradzulu Primary and Secondary Schools, Namaka Community Day Secondary School, and Chiradzulu Teachers Training College were among the institutions visited during the inspection.
The Chiradzulu District Education Office reports that there are 108,222 students and 1,679 teachers in the district.
