Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe - Malawi's delegation, led by President Lazarus Chakwera, is attending the 6th Transform Africa Summit in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, writes Winston Mwale.

The summit, which brings together African leaders, policymakers, and technology experts, is focused on accelerating digital transformation for African societies.

"This summit aligns perfectly with our development agenda, Malawi Vision 2063, in which we intend to spur development through digitalization," said President Chakwera. "We are here to learn from other African countries and share our experiences on how we can build capacity in digital infrastructure, smart governance, and digital entrepreneurship."

The summit's main thematic thrust is to shape Africa's development narrative by transitioning to a knowledge-based economy supported by a digital revolution. Malawi sees this as an opportunity to accelerate its digital transformation and position itself as a leader in digital innovation.

"We believe that digital transformation is key to our development as a country and a continent," said President Chakwera. "We are committed to leveraging digital technology to create jobs, improve service delivery, and enhance our competitiveness in the global market."

The Malawi delegation will also participate in discussions on how to foster digital entrepreneurship and build a digital infrastructure that can support the country's development aspirations.

"We are excited to be part of this important summit, and we are looking forward to learning from other African countries on how to accelerate our digital transformation journey," added President Chakwera.

The Transform Africa Summit is an annual event that provides a platform for African countries to discuss and explore opportunities for digital transformation. This year's summit, themed "Building Africa's Digital Future," is expected to attract over 4,000 participants from across the continent.

President Chakwera is set to return home Wednesday night and will provide updates on the summit's proceedings as they unfold.
