Meet Five Lilongwe Siblings Living in Hell
To put it bluntly, these siblings are literally living in hell on earth. It's a foretaste of how to live in hell!!
Recently, Malawi's media was flooded with reports claiming that more than 70% of the country's citizens live on less than a dollar per day.
But nothing seems to matter unless one sees how people in that population are dealing with life.
Only by breaking down such human suffering in terms of one specific human being or family can the story be felt directly by the heart and COMPREHENDED by the mind.
Take, for example, this family of five in Lilongwe's Chatata Village, TA Chitukula, whose parents died four years ago.
The firstborn, a 22-year-old young man, is now the de facto head of the family, going around fetching food on a daily basis.
The second child is a 16-year-old girl who, as fate would have it, is married.
While she would like to return to school, her family's current poverty is forcing her to remain in the marriage.
The other siblings are still in school, but due to financial difficulties, they are unable to continue: they cannot afford fees, uniforms, and so on.
But wait, there's more: the siblings live in a dilapidated "house" they built themselves after doing some piece work.
To put it bluntly, these siblings are living in a literal hell on Earth. It's a taste of what it's like to live in hell!!
Not all hope is lost: a group of young people is coordinating efforts to help these unfortunate siblings.
