MEPA ropes in media in awareness campaign

He stated that they engaged journalists because they believe the media can help people understand what MEPA does.

Malawi: The Malawi Environment Protection Authority (MEPA), which aims to keep the environment clean and healthy at all times, has urged northern-based journalists to write more environmental stories as well as help them sensitize the masses on the activities of the authority, writes Tionge Hara.

Chifundo Chinyama, MEPA's Acting Legal Services Manager, made the remarks following a three-day training for journalists, stating that journalists play an important role in disseminating information to the public.

He stated that they engaged journalists because they believe the media can help people understand what MEPA does.

Meanwhile, Chinyama also discussed the thin plastic issue, which has yet to be resolved due to an injunction taken by some companies that manufacture these plastics.

The training was held in Mzuzu from December 15th to 16th, 2022.
