Minister Lauds Strong Diplomatic Ties Between Malawi and Netherlands
Homeland Security Minister Ng'oma lauds strong Malawi-Netherlands diplomatic ties for development, at Netherlands National Day celebration, writes writes Chrispine Lwanja.
Lilongwe, Malawi-Minister of Homeland Security Kenneth Zikhale Ng'oma praised the strong diplomatic relationship between Malawi and the Netherlands, which has resulted in various developmental benefits for both countries, writes Chrispine Lwanja.
Speaking during the Dutch National Day celebrations in Lilongwe, Ng'oma said: "The relationship between Malawi and the Netherlands has been long-standing, which has seen both nations benefit from each other. Personally, I am grateful to the Netherlands government, and this long-standing relationship should continue thriving for the betterment of people from the two nations."
Ng'oma called upon Dutch investors to invest in various sectors of Malawi's economy, such as agriculture, tourism, energy, and mining.
He also requested support from the Netherlands government in Malawi's recovery efforts from Cyclone Freddy, climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives, and various government programs targeting the youth.
"I urge Dutch investors to explore investment opportunities in various sectors of Malawi's economy. We also request support from the Netherlands government in Malawi's recovery efforts from Cyclone Freddy, climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives, as well as various government programs targeting the youth," he said.
Ambassador Dr Margret Verwijk reaffirmed the Netherlands government's commitment to supporting Malawi's recovery efforts through the provision of clean water, sustainable agriculture, and the supply of 1.4 million doses of cholera vaccines.
She also pledged continued support for climate change adaptation and mitigation initiatives, as well as programs focused on ending child marriages and youth empowerment.
Verwijk expressed her condolences to the Malawi government for the loss of people's lives due to tropical cyclone Freddy.
"We want to continue the long-standing relationship with Malawi for the betterment of people from the two nations," she said.
