Malawi: The Our Aim Foundation (OAF) has implemented a mobile clinic initiative to bring healthcare services to underserved communities in rural and hard-to-reach areas of Malawi, including Tongozala Village in Mchinji district, writes Comfort Bulangete.
The program has been praised by the GVH Tongozala for its support of women and children in the community.
Memory Goba, a 35-year-old beneficiary of the mobile clinic, previously had to travel 15 kilometres or more to receive medical care, but through the monthly outreach of the mobile clinics, people in rural areas can now access free medical services from the dedicated staff of OAF.
She stated that pregnant mothers and others had to travel 15 kilometres or more to receive care.
However, through the monthly outreach of mobile clinics, people in rural areas have been able to access free medical services from the dedicated staff of OAF.
The monthly outreach mobile clinics initiative by the OAF has allowed people to access free medical services through the hardworking staff of the organization, according to Phillip Chapuma, an OAF nurse.
In addition to providing medical assistance, OAF has made sure that sanitation facilities, under-5 clinics, and family planning methods such as condoms and sanitary pads are always available at the clinic.
Our Aim Foundation is a non-profit organization operating in Mchinji with the goal of raising awareness about different diseases and improving access to medical care for underserved communities.
To date, at least 3,000 people, including women and children, have benefited from this initiative.
