Motorcycle rider killed in Mzimba road accident
Mwandira lost control of the motorcycle due to speeding upon arrival at Chiseng'ezi Admarc, causing him to swerve to the extreme offside verge where the two fell.
Malawi: A motorcycle rider, 18, has been killed in a road accident in Mzimba after his motorcycle swerved to the extreme offside verge, along the Kamteteka-Euthini earth road in Chiseng'ezi on Monday evening.
Mzimba Police Spokesperson Sub Inspector Peter Botha told AfricaBrief that the victim is James Mwandira from Kampalo Village in Traditional Authority Chindi in Mzimba District.
According to Botha, Mwandira (now deceased) was riding an unregistered motorcycle from Euthini towards Kamteteta with a pillion passenger on board.
Mwandira lost control of the motorcycle due to speeding upon arrival at Chiseng'ezi Admarc, causing him to swerve to the extreme offside verge where the two fell.
Following the collision, Mwandira, the motorcycle's rider, suffered severe injuries to his private parts and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mzimba District Hospital, while the pillion passenger suffered painful chest injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the same health facility.
Meanwhile, Mzimba police are advising all motorcyclists to avoid overspeeding in order to avoid such fatalities.
