MP Karim praises government for aid to cyclone victims
MP Karim praises government's swift aid response to Cyclone Freddy victims, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
Malawi-Chikwawa South Member of Parliament, Illias Karim, has commended the government for its swift response in assisting those affected by Tropical Cyclone Freddy, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
The MP made the remarks on Friday after distributing aid to hundreds of people in camps in the Chidyamanga, Dolo, Lombe, Nyambiro, and Tabwa areas who have been left destitute and in need of food and non-food items.
Karim expressed his gratitude to President Lazarus Chakwera for dispatching maize to the affected areas.
One of the senior traditional leaders, Senior Group Village Headman Konzere, also thanked the MP for visiting the affected communities and for the aid provided.
He stated that the food aid would be of great help to the hungry people who have lost their crops due to the cyclone.
Konzere further lamented that the people's matured crops had been washed away by the cyclone.
