Mponela ward councilor urges young entrepreneurs to be resilient
Councilor Mayamiko Kambewa has urged young entrepreneurs who have graduated from Zoe Empowers Malawi’s empowerment programme to be resilient as they run their businesses.
Councilor for Mponela ward, Mayamiko Kambewa, has urged young entrepreneurs who have graduated from Zoe Empowers Malawi’s empowerment programme to be resilient as they run their businesses for a better future.
Kambewa, who is also the current chairperson for the Dowa district council, made the remarks on Friday when he was addressing the recent Zoe graduands at Mponela Trading Centre in Dowa district.
He said as entrepreneurs, the youths should brace themselves for tough times when running their respective businesses as risks are inevitable.
“There is nothing that comes easy in life. Even the current successful entrepreneurs you know have once encountered challenges but they carried on and overcome,” said Kambewa.
Kambewa also elaborated on how resilience has benefited him on his journey from a humble beginning to where he is today.
He, therefore, advised the youths to desist from giving up early every time they see that their businesses are not progressing according to their expectations.
The councilor commended Zoe Empowers Malawi for its wonderful efforts in helping transform the lives of orphans and vulnerable youths in the area.
Dowa District Social Welfare representative, Limbikani Rabson, advised the young entrepreneurs to put into good use their businesses and the skills they have acquired from Zoe Empowers Malawi for the betterment of their families and the nation at large.
“Let us develop a sense of ownership over our respective businesses as well as make good use of the same for the development of our respective families,” said Rabson.
The Country Manager for Zoe Empowers Malawi, Maclein Harawa, advised the recent graduands to continue working hard and run their businesses responsibly to be self-reliant.
Zoe Empowers Malawi is a non-profit making non-governmental organisation whose aim is to empower orphans and vulnerable youths by providing them with skill-based training programmes as well as micro-grants and start-up kits.
Currently, the organisation is operating in the Dowa district, and since its inception in 2013, the programme has impacted almost 13, 000 orphans and vulnerable children in the district.
A total of 2011 orphans and vulnerable youths have graduated from the empowerment programme on Friday.
