NCST Emphasizes Importance of Research Results for Country's Development

The NCST, in collaboration with the National Planning Commission, will jointly conduct the conference, which will attract experts from different organizations concerned with research and technology.

Malawi: The National Commission for Science and Technology (NCST) has emphasized the importance of research results in the development of the country.

According to the NCST, research results provide valuable recommendations and ideas to innovators and developers, which are crucial for achieving the country's developmental goals, writes Judgment Katika.

"Research results are crucial to the development of our country," said Gift Kadzamira, Acting Director General of the National Commission for Science and Technology (NCST), in a press briefing in Lilongwe on Friday ahead of the fourth National Research Dissemination Conference.

The conference, to be held from January 25-27, 2023, will provide a platform for researchers to present their findings and will inform the NCST's decision-making in the development of the country.

"For a country to achieve the Agenda 2063 vision, it is recommended that there be research conducted by different institutions, such as universities, development agencies, MDAs, and other sectors that are taking part in the development," Kadzamira said.

Andrew Jamali, a Research Manager for the National Planning Commission, emphasized the importance of using research results to drive innovation and development.

"The National Research Dissemination Conference will provide a platform where experts will be able to find out ways that the results of research brought to the table will be used," he said.

"The conference will be a platform of experts, and all research results must be assembled at one place, to see how they are responding to the needs of people."
