NGO donates assorted items to orphans, elderly in Dedza
a Lilongwe-based youth organization under the banner Hope for Humanity on Saturday donated assorted items to orphans and the elderly who live in Mayani Village in Dedza.
MALAWI: As part of the new year's festive celebration, a Lilongwe-based youth organization under the banner Hope for Humanity on Saturday donated assorted items to orphans and the elderly who live in Mayani Village in Dedza.
The donated items include soap, sugar, salt, soya piece, books, and clothes.
Speaking when donating, the organization's founder and Chief Executive Officer CEO Andrew Chapatali said he loves helping people who need something hence the donation.
“I am a person who loves helping people, most especially the orphans, elderly, and the poor. These people should also have time to enjoy like anyone else,” he said.
Chapatali encouraged the students who received exercise books and other school materials to work hard with education saying it is where their bright future belongs.
“To you, students, work hard with school for you to become reliable citizens of this country. School is very important if one is to live an independent life. Please work hard. To parents, I can say, let us encourage our children to go to school. Do not give them household chores the time they are supposed to be at school,” said Chapatali.
He thanked those well-wishers who donated clothes and other items to the organization to be given to the orphans and the elderly.
Chapatali stressed that Hope for Humanity being a youth organization that has just started meets a lot of challenges that restrict them to grow such as lack of financial support, office space, and other office materials.
He, however, urged the government and other well-wishers to come out and support them so as they reach out to many with the donations.
“As a small organization, we meet a lot of challenges. We have dreams to reach out to many who need our help but we fail because we lack financial support. We argue the government and other well-wishers come out and support us with donations,” he stressed.
In her remarks, group Village headwoman Chimutu thanked Hope for Humanity for the donation.
“We are very thankful to Hope for Humanity for this Donation. We hope, now students who were not going to school due to a lack of school materials will such as exercise books be able to attend the classes. This should be a beginning and we argue with them to do the same in other places where people are going through the same situation,” she said.
Hope for Humanity is based in area 49, Gulliver. The organization's mission is to help less privileged people who live in remotes areas of Malawi.
