Sub-inspector Francis Chitambuli, the Northern region spokesperson, told AfricaBrief that random patrols are conducted throughout the northern region during the day and night.

Cases of illegal migration (illegal entry, illegal stay, aiding and abetting) are being prosecuted, he claims, a development that will teach other people with the same mentality a lesson.

In 2021, 328 foreigners were arrested for violating Malawi immigration laws, and 445 foreigners have been arrested so far this year.
A unique formula to this malpractice is a review of the act in order to impose harsher punishments.
So far, the community has used media and outdoor campaigns to educate and change people's attitudes toward aiding and abetting as well as illegal entry.
