Ntaja Health Center Achieves 100% TB Treatment Success Rate in Machinga District
Ntaja Health Centre reports 100% TB treatment success rate with no related deaths, Q3/Q4 2021 and 2022-Meclina Chirwa.
Malawi: Ntaja Health Centre in Machinga district, Malawi, has reported a 100% treatment success rate for tuberculosis (TB) during the third and fourth quarters of 2021 and 2022, with no related deaths reported during those periods, writes Meclina Chirwa.
According to TB Officer Dennie Milanzi, the success is attributed to the commitment of health workers, intensive awareness campaigns, and adequate treatment centres in the district.
"We have been intensifying awareness campaigns in the surrounding communities," Milanzi said.
"We focus much on the signs and symptoms. We want the community members to rush to the facility whenever they experience anything strange in their bodies."
Health workers at the Ntaja facility are working in partnership with community volunteers to detect TB cases as early as possible.
"The involvement of volunteers in hard-to-reach areas is one of the factors that has contributed a lot to the success of the fight against TB," Milanzi added.
"Our goal is to make sure that by 2030 Malawi becomes TB-free. We will continue working hard to ensure that people are getting TB treatment without problems."
