One Step Foundation to cheer street connected children in Lilongwe

One Step Foundation organizes ambitious event with an aim to donate various items such as school uniforms, shoes, and clothes to street-connected children from within Lilongwe city in Malawi

A Lilongwe-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) known as One Step Foundation has organized an ambitious event with an aim to donate various items such as school uniforms, shoes, and clothes to street-connected children from within Lilongwe city.

The occasion is scheduled to take place on October 2, 2021, at M’buka Primary School Ground in the city of Lilongwe in which the Minister of Gender, Disability, and Community Development, Patricia Kaliati, will be in attendance as the guest of honor.

In an interview on Friday, One Step Foundation Executive Director (ED), Moses Mwalabu said that they are prepared for the function.

“We have done all preparations for the function and key speakers including the guest of honor have confirmed to participate during the event, the function is scheduled to present 720 school uniforms, pair of shoes, and clothes to street-connected children,” Mwalabu said.

He added that his organization is on a mission to address issues affecting street-connected children and other vulnerable groups in the country particularly in Lilongwe city.

“We want to support all street-connected children in the country especially in Lilongwe by sending them back to school, additionally we want also to economically empower families living in total poverty so that they should have access to essential needs,” he said.

He also said that One Step Foundation envisions being the mother foundation in child development especially to the children bonded to the streets; he also said that the foundation also looks forward to being a poverty alleviation influential body in the country.

In her remarks, Ministry of Gender, Disability and Community Development Public Relations Officer (PRO), Lucy Bandazi said that the Minister of Gender, Patricia Kaliati is set to present her speech at the forthcoming event.
